A Joint Project with SSIS Garden Club and Dao Tien /Cat Tien National Park
Meet K Hoai, one of the keepers from Dao Tien with a particular passion for plants, He has been in the forest over the last few weeks collecting seeds from fruiting trees for planting in the nursery that will in the future be planted back in the forest as part of their regeneration programme on Dao Tien.
The students in our gardening club will be germinating some of the Bua seeds that will later be planted back in the forest. Click here to see us plant. The seeds will start to shoot within just a few weeks but will need to be looked after for 5-6 months before they are big enough to plant back in the forest. We will then plant them in the forest as part of their forest regeneration project. The seeds are ready to plant now, so we will need to germinate and plant them in the next few weeks while the seeds are good.
We are still trying to figure out what the tree and fruit look like….It could be Garcinia (Clusiaceae) Flore Forestiere de la Cochinchine. Paris Author:Pierre, Jean Baptiste Louis Scientific name: Garcinia loureiri Pierre
